Note*: If you've already got your map with texture, start with Step 3!
Hello, I'll show you here how to work with Pakrat. This is a program where you can add textures and will popup ingame. Normally, you will get a black-purple blocked texture if someone else sees one of your custom textures. (you can add sounds and models too!)
but, with pakrat, not!
Step 1, get or make your custom texture. It has to be a VTF file. So open VTF studio and compile your picture to a VTF and save it in cstrike/materials/decals. Save it as: customtex. (I'll post the download links on the buttom of the tutorial).
Step 2, Open Source SDK, and select Hammer Editor. Search with the toggle texture aplication tool, for customtex. And select your custom texture. Now place it in the game, where you want, and compile the map.
Step 3, Now we're really going to use the Pakrat program. So, click on pakrat.jar. When opened, click on load map and load the map you've made.
Step 4, Another window should pop-up, and load your textures in here. You need the Model File, or the VTF and VMT. Then when finished, and loaded up, all your textures: Click save BSP and save your map. You should have 2 files in your Maps map: YOURMAP.bsp, and YOURMAP.bak.bsp.
Step 5, Post them on Fpsbanana, and now other people can see your textures, and won't see the black-purple blocked texture. I hope this helped you, because you can think of any examples now, like putting models in your map, putting textures in your map etc. Everyone will see it!
