Welcome! This tutorial is based on the game Counter Strike: Source. If you clicked on this for another game, you are in the wrong section, so please go back and try again. If you are here to learn how to add Game Start Up music to Counter Strike: Source, then you are in the right section and you should keep reading!
Why This Tutorial Is Different
Adding Game Start Up music is easy in all honesty... So why read this one? Well, this one was designed to be in-depth, and to have the best explanation and few grammar errors. I hope you enjoy this tutorial!
How To Add Game Start Up Music!
Getting The Files Ready
First off I want to say that you will obviously need Counter Strike: Source installed and started up at least once if you want to get to the files. So if you just got a fresh installation like I did, you need to take and start the game up. Now that you have done that I need you to go to this directory:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps*\counter-strike source\cstrike
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps*\counter-strike source\cstrike
Now, someone might be asking me, "Well, xGlitchx, I can't see '****'. I just see my account name!", well see, if I were to put my account name in the tutorial I could get hacked and lose all of my games, so I couldn't make more tutorials like these, so in fact, the "****" is actually your account.
After you are there, you may (Or may not), see a file called sound. If not then just create it. If you just created a folder called sound, you will need to go into it and create another file called media. If you don't see a media folder in sound even if you already had the sound folder, please create the media folder. Once in there you need to take and look for a .mp3 called "gamestartup.mp3" (Of course, without the quotation marks.). If it is not there, you are set, if it is, delete it.
Picking The Song And Finishing The Project
Ok, now picking the song isn't hard, it needs to be .mp3 though. If you don't have it as .mp3, I suggest you find a good converter. All you have to do is rename the file (Lets go with Your Guardian Angel.mp3 from The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) to gamestartup.mp3 and put it in the media folder that you created earlier. So now the directory would be:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps*\counter-strike source\cstrike\sound\media\gamestartup.mp3
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps*\counter-strike source\cstrike\sound\meida\gamestartup.mp3
Does this method work for when they enter in-game?
No, this is completely different from in-game server start up.
I can't find the folders and now I'm so confused! Remember the golden rule, if you can't find it, make it.
