The Holy Diver's Knif Tutorial

Beginner Tip's

Firstly to be an effictive knife player you need patience, you will die A LOT and the skill will not come over night.

Secondly you should have a decent knowledge of the map, a good hiding place is important.

Thirdly, pick you secondary pistol. Choose to your strength weather it be the deag or usp, using what your good with will save your life. learn how to throw grenades. Nades are important as well, learn how to bounce them off the walls for maximum effect. With a well placed smoke or flash you can create a situation where you come out on top against opponents with ak's or para's. Lastly learn the range of both right and left click. As you will see the left click has more range but less power but right click has less range and more power. Use of these ranges will come in handy as your skill increases.

Intermediate Tip's

Assuming that you have played Source for a while now your knowledge of the map's you play on will help you considerably. You should start trying to hide around the map, dark area's and hard to reach places work best. I prefer to choose a high place to hide, this allows me to remain hidden and follow my unsuspecting victims and drop behind them.

While hiding stay still, if you have to move crouch or walk. Any type of movement will attract attention. It is safe to be prepared and have your secondary weapon assigned to your fast switch, "usually q", just in case you have to use it. Use sound while hiding. When hiding you will need to use your judgement through sound, there may be several sets of footsteps and you will have to judge when to jump out and grab a backstab for a one hit kill.

While 1v1 in a knife fight use the left clicks range and you move in close, get a right click in and throw in a few fast left clicks. While this may seem weird at first the method will help and make you better, you opponent will most likely use right clicks only. Next you should learn to strafe, never go backwards this doesnt work for some reason. If you can arch you movements, almost in a u turn fasion, you can get behind the opponent and get the 1 hit kill.

Nades will be your best friend. When you can get a good flash throw you can rush in and steal the kills, a combo flash and smoke can prove usefull when you master the combo. When in doubt you can retreat using the flashes and smokes to cover you escape. If you cant get you opponent on the first try you can retreat and try again.

Expert Hint's

Learn the maps to a t. Master your knife's range. Learn the common paths on each side of the map. Know the hiding spots, use them to your advantage. Know when to move. Know when to fight.
