Transparent Textures

By Killocity 7 years ago

Ok, im not asking how to make transparent sprays, thats easy, ive made enuf -_- what I DO need to know is how to make transparent textures for hammer. I have tried using the same method for makin sprays, but they stay with grey background. Also, if i try using the spray itslelf as a texture, its transparent, but then it shows through every wall on the map, which looks a bit retarded and messed up :P

if there is a tutorial, plz link it, cos i cudnt find it tyvm.

I think you need to make your normal texture and name it texture.vtf, then make your normal/reflective maps and name them texturenormal.vtf and texturereflective.vtf. Then you need to make a seperate alpha map, in the same manner as you would for a spray, but as a seperate file. then save it as texture_alpha.vtf, or whatever your texture is named. Then finally open up notepad and create a VMT file (it would be too long to post but you can google for how to do it). [edit] go to My storage site to download a sample vmt I made just now.

Hmmm, ill try that pballer, but i dnt really understand much about it lol, i use the reflective files (called texture_ref) to make chrome and shiny things, dnt think u need em for trans textures, ill giv it a go with jus the alpha thing, an see what happens, thanx, at least SUM1 is bein helpful

oh and rufuz, lmao to u, its not the same file, as i pointed out at the top, if you use a spray logo in hammer, it messes up an shows through every wall that faces the front of it as a decal, and it jus shows through EVERY wall if its a brush, so again, lmao goes 2 u sir
