Transparent Sparys?

Im abit stuck, maybe you will think im a noob for asking this, but could someone tell me how to make an image transparent?

    What you do is, cut out the areas you want as transparent, save as .png, import it into VTFEdit with the right settings (IDK, haven't made a spray in ages :S) and export as .vtf, make a .vtm, and fill it in with the right stuff. Then put it in your sprays folder (which is somewhere, IDK.)

    Or... you could just save it as a .tga and import it in CSS Options. It's a hell of a lot easier

    There is a tutorial in the tuts section of making transparent sprays with GIMP.

    o_O Works for me - just cut out the bits you want trans and save as .tga (making sure the background is transparent)

    Dunno what prog your using so it might not work - works for PS 7.0
