How can I Adjust Recoil?

For Science!

By Gabriel_Ruan 10 months ago

Dearest modders,

It seems possible to edit weapon characteristics as desired, but I don't fully understand how this is done. I wish to remove recoil, whilst preserving spread equal to the first shot's. How do I do that?

This link appears relevant, although it bears no explicit mention of recoil.

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=166468

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

You don't, you just get better. That forum is a place for server mods and plugins. If you have your own server you could do this. From what I recall if you tried to change up some of your local files yourself 80% of the time servers deny you and force consistency of the file.

    I'm sorry; I don't follow.

Basically any changes you make will be ignored by the server, and you'll be stuck with the same recoil anyway; unless you have a server.

Thank you for the clarification. This is for offline use, though.

They're in the 'counter-strike source shared.gcf' archive, there's a folder called 'scripts', in there you find 'weapon_*.ctx' files, decompile these with this, mess about a little with the '.txt' file (basically the link you put up there), then compile it back to CTX format.

I was hoping for an explanation of each value. Nothing screams recoil to me! :)

Take the imitative, play around with certain variables and create your own understandings for them.
