high poly to css?

i am having quite a bit of trouble with baking. alot of edges are missing and some other stuff... i know i will get it right soon but i just want to know what happend if you did put a high poly object into css? would it just crash as soon as u joined a game and took out the weapon?

    A model that was made in high poly through subdivision techniques needs to be brought down to basic polygons, and a lot less of them. The only reason you'd make a high poly model for a custom weapon in CS:S is to later bake normals onto a low poly model.

    Some compilers start to crash at high polycounts, I remember Modderfreak saying that Cannonfodder's compiler started crashing at >50k polies per smd.

    Not exactly crashes though. Just give a "too many indices" error. Regardless Cannonfodder's or Wunderboy's compiler since it uses the same studiomdl.exe. Sometimes this happens as well when the model has >20k polys instead of >50k polys.

    As BrainZ said, the main purpose of creating high poly model is to bake it.
