Hi, im new to 3ds max, just downloaded some tutorials, and my XYZ Axis object movy thingy is all funny and stuff. It is just thin 2D blue, red, and green lines for the z, x, and y axis'. In the video tut i downloaded they are sortof 3d-ish. Also, with myones, i cant use them to resize the verteces or whatever they are called. Can somebody please tell me how to change it, and maybe even what its called?

Click on the toolbar on either the move, rotate or scale thing. Then it'll show. Also check if the lock is off. (pressing space bar activates and deactivates it)
cant select the move rotate or scale things. It is showing, it is just thin lines that dont do anything. Do i want the lock on or off? None of that did anything. thanks for trying.

Press x. I believe that should do it. It's what happened to me. also watch out for ctrl-x and spacebar.

Really? That looks exactly like what happens when you press x... hmm... Look through here: http://3drockstar.com/3d-studio-max-hotkeys-quick-reference/ and make sure you didn't press any of those hotkeys.

EDIT that x thing worked now for some reason, i pushed reset to reset my scene (was full of crap) and it went back. =[
