Every time I try load Hammer since the last update it has been giving me this "Failed to initialize texture system" error message.
I've tried to reset configurations for Hammer, but every time I do that, it crashes. Any suggestions?
You seem to be describing a different error than the image shows. What is the actual error, and what game do you have hammer configured for?
I have it configured for CS:S, HL2, HL2:DM, HL2:EP1, and HL2:EP2. But the thing is that when I load Hammer from the SDK for the certain game (in which I get the same error on startup for all of them) it will show that red error message in the message box and prompt me to re-load my last map since hammer did not shut down correctly.
Now... if I click yes... it tries to load the map, but when I go to fix the configurations it tells me I missing the wireframe models or something.
Screenshots (In order of appearance):
What happens if you click no and just open the map yourself?
Crashes Instantaneously. :(
What engine do you have hammer set for?
Currently Episode 1 since I am making a Zombie Map for CS:S.
The only time I've seen errors similar to that was the ones which just meant you didn't load the game first, but that specific one is new for me. SDK Base not installed perhaps? should work fine without it though.
Any launch options left in like the -engine ones?
Cause other than a reinstall I don't really know whats causing the problem.
Nope, I've loaded all of those games and I have SDK Base installed. As for the launch options. I haven't messed with those since the last major update to the SDK, well the one that added the new Engine options.
And I reinstalled Source SDK and it seems to be working now. I was probably just missing a critical file or something.
Corruption is really easy with source games, running defrag consistently helps, I just leave a schedule setup on my computer to run it at the end of each month overnight so I don't have to worry about it.
Ya, I'll have to start doing that, especially since I'm getting a new computer really soon. I might be getting a Nvidia 9800 GX2 or their new 280, which is pretty much the same as the GX2 but a little bit faster.
Anyways... thanks for the help. :)
