Mouse affecting FPS?

Game laggs all the way down to 0 FPS whenever I move my mouse.

By Nexolate 5 years ago

I'm completely stumped with this. I came on this morning for a game of CSS and found that it was unplayable because every time I moved my mouse the game lagged so badly.

This would be more bearable had the game not been working completely fine the night before. I haven't changed any settings or drivers since last night and now I get these unexpainable FPS Drops. The only thing that's changed is that I had a few Steam Updates to do this morning, I don't think they affected CSS though.

If you need any specs or settings, let me know which ones. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I've tried it with other games like GRAW2 and they work completely fine. Atm it's only CSS that I know has this problem.

I'm just going to state the obvious few things that people are going to say:

Reboot your PC Restart steam Delete your clientregistery.blob Reinstall CSS Reinstall Windows Reinstall drivers Virus scan Close background programms Wait for Valve to fix it Throw PC out of window Mastru- oh wait... nvm

Found the answer, and I don't believe how stupidly simple it was. It was XFire, y'know the innocent gaming-chat program? That's what's been lagging my system, cos I leave it on almost all the time. I didn't think much of it cos it only takes up a couple megs of memory and barely any CPU.

EDIT: It appears it only affects 64-Bit Operating Systems, as you can fix it by turning off the xfire64.exe process.
