Log Cabin Prefab

Log Cabin Prefab

Made by The Giblets of Jesus

Info

This prefab comes fully optimized and with 2 skins, normal and snow covered. The snow atop the cabin is made up of displacements and overlays that are grouped together and placed in a separate vis-group.

Additional info

The props and skybox seen in the screenshots are Moroes pine trees, this foliage pack from Garrysmod.org and the frozen skybox texture made by Komaokc.

If you do decide to use this prefab in one of your maps, I'd like to be credited as appropriate and while not required, it'd be nice to told so I could see how people have used it.

Posted by DoctorWaffles There is just a little lack of detail, for example.

You did your walls with one texture, and pretty much straight. And you could've added skirting boards

Wood is allmost never straight, have you ever been in a cabin? They most of the time use cilinder-shaped wood as walls.

You might want to take a look at this prefab.

Sorry if I overreact for some small details, but the small details finish your prefab.

That's fine, it's good that people can still give critique and just not mindlessly hand out 10's like there's no tomorrow.

The skirting boards I feel would be largely blocked out by the rest of the props and such that sit against the walls, and most folk generally don't seem to notice such small details, but I take your point.

    I personally have never been in a log cabin, but I did a bit of scrounging around on google images. I did consider having the full logs for walls, but eventually left it out, thinking that;

    1. It would take up a lot of planes that would effect performance of some large maps.
    2. Would look less than amazing with 8-12 sides (thinking of performance again)
    3. Flat walls still look quite nice imo

But still, thanks for offering some critique.

Posted by DoctorWaffles Nice work, again.

But to be honest, I don't really like the brushwork on the inside.

    Still worth a 9/10.

Thanks man, can I ask what about the brushwork your not happy with?
