The last BETA, I hope!

Here is my latest version of my map Jb_carceris, and probaly the last BETA!

And I really need feedback on this one! As this might be the last BETA.

This is just a next version of the BETA, added a few more things (Check changelog) and packed some missing textures.

Note that this is a Beta, next version will be much better. (Will add HDR and bigger lightmaps!)

    Well it's a BETA, what did you expect? And 33MB isn't that much? I mean it takes 1 minute to download when using fastdownload ofcourse.

    Those displacements "bugs" are already removed in the final version which I am still working on.

    And I don't get it when you're talking about complex, it's actually quite an easy lay-out.

    Pros:

    • Well-detailed map

    Cons:

    • It's a good map, but it is really too big. It's too complex. I think you put too much games/places in this map. And 33Mb - packed size! When server loads this map, a half of players don't want to download it and disconnect
    • I noticed some bugs where non-displacement and displacement surfaces meet each other. There's a little hole or something. I noticed it near arena with Hot C4 (or whatever its name is)

    Improvements:

    • Remove displacement bugs
    • Reduce the size of .BSP

    Notes:

    • Good map though, but really too large

    The edges around the disco floor lights are white as they currently are. They could be made darker to possibly fit better. I'm a fan of darker discos, you know. :)

    EDIT: I also forgot to mention this in my feedback, you should consider increasing the time the cell doors will automatically open from 30 seconds to 45-60 seconds. 30 seconds just seems too short, especially for some servers that have "if the cell doors have been opened before orders, it's an unrestricted freeday" rule.

    • Jump Rope/Wipe out: It's hard to balance this. I am thinking about making a teleport into a room where CTs has to release them (Like the other games have)

    • Breakable vents I will check this. But i'll have to balance them good enough to give a T a chance to escape.

    As Style already mentioned, I couldn't be without noticing the nodraw texture next to the cells. Hopefully you'll get the final version out soon. :)

    In the pool area what you refer to as a jump rope aka wipeout, the easy and medium levels are too easy in my opinion. If I ever wanted to play it, I would always have to use hard. Also, if people fail, they get teleported to the middle, where it's relatively easy to just jump back to the game. In my opinion, they should be punished for failing, such as losing 20 health.

    The disco has some great songs and secrets hidden in it, and it's definetly loud in the disco area, which is a good thing. The floor looks decent, but could be improved (dark edges?). The disco lights could also be made darker or be able to toggle them off and on.

    I'm not sure if beta07 had breakable vents, but you should make them breakable instead of func_illusionary. It helps CTs to track if the vents have been went into as well if someone runs away from the group.

    I also love the idea of the Pacman game, it's original and works well. Just fix the knifing issue as already explained, and possibly add glass on it to make it more realistic.

    There's lots of secrets, some chances to rebel and the map is generally balanced.

    If you could find a way to make the buttons for the game CT only that would be great as a lot of the time Ts run passed the button and turn it on before the Ts are in it.

    For the Pacman game the Ts can knife CTs who are above the maze.

    Yes but the problem is T can back in there jail with the p90, so you can close the vent when 1 T go in or ... don't put ladder for back ^^

    Delete the P90? That would result in zero escaping chance trough the vent.

    First, it is a good map, there are many games (I did not understand how the labyrinth work)

    However there is one little problem, there is a vent, which go directly into the armory, the problem is :

    -All the terrorists will rush and the great potential of the map will not be use -The terrorist who was in this jail will open the door of the armory when the terrorists will leave the room

    Remember that this is a map for Jailbreak;) Good luck in the end!

    Well, to be honest. The server that tested my map gave me feedback that the vent was too hard to escape from, due the fact CTs used to go inside the vent for the first few seconds to see if somebody escaped.

    And the terrorist which opens the armory for the other terrorists is rather smart and a nice tactic.

    I get your point, but how would you recommend to balance it?
