gg_und_chemfactory *updated*

My first finished map. Go easy on me :P Out of beta.

This is my first map, created using Hammer. I chose a gungame style map, because it's my favorite game-style and the simplicity made it easy to adapt.

The map is based on a gg_deagle5 style obstacle labyrinth, but with added functionality on the sides.

All credit to the creator of the deagle5 style for my inspiration.

Please rate and comment with tips and PLEASE tell me if I screwed anything up..remember, this is my FIRST attempt at map making, and I only want to get better.

INSTALLATION Extract files to steamapps\YOURNAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps or extract to any location and copy then paste into your maps folder.

That simple!

I really like the homage to the deagle series. It's similar, but definitely not a knock off.

I like the amount of realism and detail added as well, makes it feel like a real warehouse and not just a CS:S map.

Keep up the good work :) (Great job for a first try btw)

From what I can see, you should probably reduce the number of props you have and replace them with brushes.

For example, maybe remove the bottom set of barrels for some of the cluster****s of barrels and replace with a simple 6-sided detail brush (select it and ctrl+t, and presto) with a wooden or metal texture.

That's all that catches my eye at first glance, keep at it!

For your next map, don't be frightened to open up seemingly random passageways and corridors into yet to be determined rooms. That's where most of the fun from mapping comes from! Just make sure to balance everything out if you actually want people to play on it though. That was my first mistake.

Thanks for the tips. After placing most of the barrel stacks, I realized that it looked too busy and yellow, but being that it was my first map and I wasn't really looking for functionality..more so just trying to show myself that I've learned a lot over 2 days (yes, I learned everything and made it in 2 days).

Midway through making the map, I saw a video on texturing blocks to look like certain things, like crates..etc. My main thing was, I wanted to shy away from crates because I didn't want to be a complete copy cat of the gg_deagle series.

But yeah, I appreciate the honesty and constructive criticism. I'll be back, and better than ever. My next map is going to be at least 3 times bigger and much more detailed.
